Janea J. Hawkins Named a "40 Under 40" Award Recipient by the National Bar Association

RESTON, VA (July 8, 2021) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Janea J. Hawkins has been honored as a 2021 “40 Under 40 Nation’s Best Advocates” award recipient by the National Bar Association (NBA). The award recognizes the nation’s top lawyers under the age of 40 who exemplify a broad range of high achievements in the legal field, including in advocacy, innovation, vision, leadership, and overall legal and community involvement. The recipients will be honored at the National Bar Association’s renowned 40 Under 40 Awards Gala to be broadcast on July 24.

“It is an honor to receive the “40 Under 40” award from the NBA,” said Janea. “I find myself in good company, surrounded by talented and innovative attorneys who are fully committed to making an impact and advancing the legal profession. Janea is an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. Region office. She has both government and private practice experience representing government agencies and private employers in a wide array of employment litigation. Janea regularly defends management in federal and state courts; administrative claims of harassment; retaliation and discrimination claims on the basis of age, race, sex, and disability; wrongful discharge and breach of contract issues; and covenant-not-to-compete disputes. She has also represented employers in Department of Labor audits and Office Safety and Health Administration investigations. Janea regularly counsels clients in best employment practices, affirmative action policies and compliance; and frequently conducts internal investigations into allegations of employee misconduct, including sexual harassment. As a member of Jackson Lewis’s Workplace Training Practice Group, Janea frequently conducts training on a variety of employment topics including unconscious bias, discrimination, conducting effective internal investigations and best management practices.

Ms. Hawkins earned her J.D. from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and her B.A. and B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
