Juan Felipe Santos Takes the Helm of Jackson Lewis' San Juan Office

SAN JUAN, PR (February 17, 2016) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Juan Felipe Santos has been elevated to Office Managing Principal in the firm’s San Juan, Puerto Rico office.  Mr. Santos succeeds Pedro Torres-Díaz, who will focus on his growing practice and the responsibilities associated with his role of President-Elect of the Hispanic National Bar Association.

“Juan, who has been with Jackson Lewis since we opened in Puerto Rico in January of 2013, has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the growth of that office and we are excited to see how San Juan will continue to strengthen under his leadership,” said Firm Chairman Vincent A. Cino.

Mr. Santos has successfully represented employers in litigation before federal and Puerto Rico courts, including jury trials. Before joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Santos worked for over 10 years in other major law firms in Puerto Rico, devoting his practice exclusively to labor and employment law.

Mr. Santos represents clients through all phases and types of federal and local labor and employment lawsuits and administrative matters, ranging from individual charges and cases to broad-scale collective and class actions regarding wage and hour disputes, employment discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, statutory leaves of absence, welfare benefits (ERISA), Railway Labor Act, defamation, non-compete covenants and other employment-related torts.

Mr. Santos provides legal advice to management on human resources compliance issues and policy matters spanning the entire employment life cycle, from the hiring, discipline and termination of employees, including drafting of employment manuals and policies and the development of strategies for effective liability mitigation Mr. Santos also has experience providing legal advice to companies establishing operations in Puerto Rico and conducting due diligence employment law audits.

Mr. Santos received his B.S. from Cornell University and his J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico Law School.
