Jonathan P. Schmidt

Jonathan P. Schmidt is a principal in the Orange County, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counsel.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Jonathan was a senior associate at a boutique civil litigation firm defending employers in workplace law matters, as well as prosecuting and defending companies in complex contractual disputes and business tort cases. In that capacity, Jonathan successfully negotiated settlements on behalf of his clients and achieved positive results, including a unanimous jury verdict for an employer in a wrongful termination and wage-and-hour case. 

Jonathan also previously worked as a deputy district attorney for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, Jonathan conducted multiple jury trials and successfully argued hundreds of dispositive motions in courts throughout the county. 

While attending law school, Jonathan was a member of the San Diego International Law Journal and participated in the National Moot Court Team. He earned recognition for his legal writing and oral advocacy both at his law school and at several national moot court competitions.
