Sydney Mendelsohn is an associate in the New York City, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  She represents management in employment litigation and advises clients on various aspects of the employer-employee relationship.

Sydney’s interest in labor and employment started while she was a student at Cornell’s School of Industrial Labor Relations, where she took a course titled “Writing Seminar in Law: Intersections of Disability Identity in Law and Society.”  In this course, she had the opportunity to conduct legal research on issues in disability law and craft arguments in response to legal decisions. After taking this course, she continued to research a timely Supreme Court case dealing with intellectual disabilities and capital punishment and went on to publish an article in the University of Chicago Undergraduate Law Review Journal.

Sydney has handled discrimination, harassment, retaliation and employment contract claims in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights and the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
