Jackson Lewis Recognized as One of the Best Law Firms for Women

NEW YORK, NY (June 25, 2021) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce the firm has been named among the 50 Best Law Firms for Women by Seramount (formerly Working Mother Media). This is the fourth consecutive year the firm achieved this recognition for its best practices in the recruitment, retention, promotion and development of women lawyers.

“We are very proud to earn this recognition once again,” said Firm Chair Kevin G. Lauri. “Within the past year, we appointed our first Firm Managing Principal Samantha Hoffman and also launched the RISE Mentoring System, to ensure equitable, consistent access to mentorship for all associates across the firm. Jackson Lewis takes great pride in steadily increasing the number of women being promoted to firm leadership, equity principal and retaining the firm’s workforce.”

Seramount's 2021 Best Law Firms for Women application includes more than 300 questions about attorney demographics at different levels, schedule flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and the development and retention of women. This year, in light of COVID-19, several questions were added about the success of working from home for lawyers.

“In 2020, the world was faced with unprecedented challenges and many of us were asked to act as teachers and manage our children while they were attending school from home,” said Alison L. Lynch, co-chair of the firm’s Practicing and Parenting attorney resource group and Orange County Office Managing Principal. “The impact of COVID-19 was impossible to plan for, and incredibly hard on a large population of the firm. Jackson Lewis’ leadership recognized the challenges this caused and did everything they could to provide support for parents and caregivers throughout the firm. Our focus on intentionality, emphasizing the need for flexibility, and showing grace and empathy for each other has played a part in increasing the number of women being promoted and workforce retention.”

Jackson Lewis continues to be recognized by various organizations for its programs and initiatives supporting the advancement of women and diverse attorneys. The firm recently achieved Mansfield Certification Plus after completing the 12-month Mansfield Rule 3.0 certification program by affirmatively considering women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities – at least 30 percent of the candidate pool – for recruitment, governance roles, equity partner promotions, and inclusion in formal pitches to clients. The firm was also designated as a “Gold Standard Firm” by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum and honored for “Tipping the Scales” by the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance for having 50 percent or more women elevated in its 2020 partner class.
