Jackson Lewis Earns Gold Standard Certification from the Women In Law Empowerment Forum

New York, NY (June 29, 2020) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce the firm has been certified as a Gold Standard Firm by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) for the ninth consecutive year. The WILEF Gold Standard Certification is awarded to firms who have successfully demonstrated that women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance and compensation committees, of their most highly compensated partners and that there be meaningful diversity among their women partners.

"Jackson Lewis is pleased to be recognized by WILEF for our steadfast commitment to supporting the advancement of women attorneys,” said Firm Chairman Kevin G. Lauri. “In the past year, the firm made it a priority to increase the diverse representation of its attorney population and maintain an inclusive environment that ensures all attorneys have equitable opportunities to contribute to the firm’s success. Maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment is a core value at Jackson Lewis, and the firm takes every opportunity to promote the advancement of women in the firm.”

Jackson Lewis has been consistently recognized for its diversity and inclusion initiatives. In 2019, Jackson Lewis announced its participation in The Mansfield Rule 3.0 and rolled out framework to Office Managing Principals firm-wide that ensured diverse principals, including women, were intentionally considered for elevation to equity principal. The firm was also earned the “Tipping the Scales Award” as part of the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance’s 2019 New Partner Report for having 50 percent or more women in its 2019 partner class. Additionally, Jackson Lewis also expanded its Practicing and Parenting group to offices nationwide. The resource group addresses issues such as time management, the paths and struggles to partnership, and being successful in one’s practice all while balancing the demands of family life.

"The firm recognizes that the advancement of women and diverse attorneys starts at the top, and it takes those in leadership positions to identify talent and provide the opportunity to advance at all levels throughout the firm,” said the firm’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion Jana Simon. “We consistently strive to ensure that women have every opportunity to advance, and make sure that women are represented at all levels of firm leadership, including at the practice, industry and office levels. We are proud that the firm’s Board of Directors is currently comprised of more than 30 percent women and we hope that figure will continue to increase."

To achieve the WILEF Gold Standard Certification, law firms with 300 or more practicing attorneys in the U.S. must meet objective criteria concerning the number of women among equity partners, in firm leadership positions and in the ranks of their most highly compensated partners. The WILEF Certification emphasizes the leadership roles achieved by equity women partners, rather than the policies or practices of the firm or the overall number or percentage of women in the partnership.
