Allison P. Dearington Honored at the 2021 Connecticut Legal Awards

HARTFORD, CT (May 13, 2021) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Principal Allison P. Dearington has been selected as a winner of the 2021 Connecticut Legal Awards in the “New Leader in the Law” category, presented by the Connecticut Law Tribune. Honorees are selected based on legal prowess in the courtroom, in client service and cultivation, service to bar associations, and for performing pro bono work or community service in a volunteer capacity.

“During her time at Jackson Lewis, Allison has consistently operated at a high level,” said Office Managing Principal Tanya A. Bovée. “She devises creative arguments and strategies that lead to successful outcomes for our clients. Everyone is drawn to Allison because of her great work, calm demeanor and humor. Her impressive leadership inside and outside of the courtroom made her an obvious choice for this award.”

The Connecticut Legal Awards honors those attorneys and judges who have made a remarkable difference in the legal profession in Connecticut, whether in shaping the law, achieving outsized results for their clients, being an outstanding jurist or assisting those in need of legal services. The 2021 winners were announced at a virtual ceremony held on May 12.

Allison focuses her practice on employment litigation, including class and collective action defense, and preventive counseling. She has significant trial experience and frequently represents employers in state and federal courts, before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and in arbitration. Allison defends a variety of employment claims including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, violations of First Amendment rights, wage and hour violations including misclassification claims and tip-credit claims, breach of contract, and denial of public accommodations.

Allison also has an active advice and counsel practice, advising employers on a wide range of employment-related issues. In addition, she has experience drafting employee handbooks and workplace policies, conducting investigations into internal employee complaints, drafting contracts, and conducting training seminars.

Outside of the courtroom, Allison is active in local Hartford community organizations and initiatives. For three years, she chaired the Greater Hartford Junior League’s Career Connections for Young Women program, for which she organized panel discussions at the Hartford office for young women interested in legal careers. Allison is also the co-chair of the Practicing and Parenting Committee in Jackson Lewis’ Hartford office, which regularly meets to support both new and seasoned parents with the challenges presented by balancing family life with the demands of a law practice.

“To be selected as a 'New Leader in the Law' is a tremendous honor,” said Allison. “It is especially meaningful to me to have been nominated for this award by my colleagues. I am truly appreciative for all the opportunities and support the Jackson Lewis team has given me, and hope that I can be the same kind of mentor to junior attorneys that I have been fortunate to have throughout my career.”

Allison earned her B.A. from Fordham University and her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
