Emily M. Petroski Named Managing Principal of Detroit and Grand Rapids Offices

DETROIT, MI (February 16, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce that Emily M. Petroski has been elevated to office managing principal in Detroit and Grand Rapids. Emily succeeds Marlo Johnson Roebuck, who has stepped down to focus on serving her clients.

“Since joining the firm in 2008, Emily has had an important role in the growth of our Michigan offices,” said Firm Chair Kevin G. Lauri. “Emily was one of the founding members of our Detroit office and is a stellar employment attorney. We can’t wait to see where she takes us next.”

Emily has served as the office litigation manager of both Michigan offices since 2014 and will also continue in this role. Her practice focuses on employment litigation and risk mitigation through advice and counsel on all employment and workplace law issues, including disability and leave management. She has litigated employment law cases throughout the nation, successfully defending some of the nation’s largest corporations.

Emily has significant experience advising clients and litigating claims under Title VII, the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.  Her experience includes handling charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Michigan Department of Civil Rights, as well as other comparable administrative agencies throughout the country. Emily also has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.

Additionally, Emily specializes in counseling and advising clients on FMLA and ADA compliance, as well as disability and leave management issues. She regularly advises on the optimal management of all personnel-related issues, as well as mitigating litigation risks. Emily has extensive appellate litigation experience and has successfully brought or defended appeals before the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court, and the Sixth Circuit.

Emily earned her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law (King Hall) where she was Order of the Coif, and her B.A, with honors, from Stanford University.

“I am honored to take on the role of office managing principal of our Michigan offices and look forward to building on Jackson Lewis’ legacy of excellence in Michigan and throughout the country,” said Emily.
