Jackson Lewis Attorneys Recognized as the Nation's Most Powerful

WHITE PLAINS, NY (June 4, 2019) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, congratulates Chairman Emeritus Vincent A. Cino, along with Principals Neil H. Dishman, Maurice G. Jenkins, René E. Thorne and Richard F. Vitarelli for their inclusion in Human Resource Executive magazine’s “Most Powerful Employment Attorneys” list for 2019. Produced in partnership with Lawdragon, the list recognizes employment lawyers who stand out for their ability to guide employers through constantly evolving workplace laws.

Mr. Cino is Chairman Emeritus of Jackson Lewis. From 2012 through 2018, he was responsible for the entire firm's day-to-day administration and management. Prior to assuming the role of Chairman, he served as the firm's National Director of Litigation. Mr. Cino is featured on the list as “Hall of Fame” status in recognition of his legal prowess and for practicing 35 years or more in the employment-law trenches. His recognition in the “Hall of Fame” distinguishes all-around excellence in counseling clients, contributing to the bar and serving as a visionary to improve workplaces. This year, 16 attorneys were added to the Hall of Fame and will be retired from future consideration for other lists.

Mr. Dishman is a Principal in the Chicago, Illinois, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His business is helping employers prevent and resolve disputes with their employees. He helps employers reduce risk and minimize legal costs by giving advice on difficult personnel decisions before litigation ensues. When litigation is unavoidable, he helps employers protect their assets and reputations by vigorously and efficiently defending them from employee lawsuits.

Mr. Jenkins is a Principal in the Detroit, Michigan, office of Jackson Lewis. He has practiced labor and employment law for more than 30 years. As a trial lawyer, Mr. Jenkins has first chaired jury trials, labor and civil rights arbitrations, NLRB hearings and state civil rights administrative cases on behalf of employers in such business sectors as automotive (OEM; Tier .5-4 suppliers and retail), pharmaceutical manufacturing, international, national and regional consumer retailers, information technology, telecommunications, gaming, and financial services.

Ms. Thorne is a Principal and the Office Litigation Manager in the New Orleans, Louisiana, office of Jackson Lewis. Her practice covers the full range of employee benefit litigation matters, including representation of employers, plans, plan fiduciaries, and trustees. She has handled numerous ERISA class actions and benefits and employment matters for numerous large national companies. Ms. Thorne has been qualified and testified as an expert on ERISA matters in federal court.

Mr. Vitarelli is a Principal in the Hartford, Connecticut, office of Jackson Lewis. Part of the firm’s national labor practice, he has over two decades of experience representing employers nationally in strategic labor relations, collective bargaining, and union organizing, including in the context of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and contract administration. He serves as general labor and employment counsel for employers and multi-employer associations in various industries, including construction, manufacturing, health care and senior living, airline, commercial laundry, transportation and distribution, state and local government.

The “Most Powerful Employment Attorneys” list is intended to offer corporate counsel and human resource professionals an unsurpassed guide to the best lawyers to help them resolve difficult employment situations and keep them in compliance with the country’s increasingly complicated and changing workplace-related laws and regulations. The process pairs online balloting and submissions with rigorous vetting, as well as editorial and peer review. To make the cut on the general and specialty lists, a lawyer typically had to have practiced more than 20 years and amassed a list of remarkable accomplishments. A recognized attorney has also generally chaired his or her firm’s employment department and often has been selected to lead his or her state or national employment-bar organization. The lawyers featured on the list are also vetted for integrity. Bar records are checked, and peers and counsel are questioned about their integrity beyond a lawyer’s technical and tactical skills.
