Jackson Lewis Named Finalist for MCCA's Thomas L. Sager Award

NEW YORK, NY (October 19, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce the firm was again named a finalist for the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s (MCCA) 2022 Thomas L. Sager Award. The Award highlights a firm’s commitment to building a more diverse and inclusive legal industry.

“We are incredibly grateful and honored to be recognized as a finalist by the MCCA,” said Firm Chair Kevin G. Lauri. “Maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace is a priority at Jackson Lewis and remains a core strategic pillar as we expand. As a nationwide law firm that represents a wide variety of clients, it is our collective responsibility to create an environment that motivates and encourages our attorneys to reach their full potential.”

First presented in 1999 and named after former DuPont Senior Vice President and General Counsel Thomas L. Sager, the Sager Award is presented to Am Law 200 law firms that are leading the charge to create more diverse and equitable workplaces in the legal industry. Finalists are selected based on rigorous review and scoring of the nominees’ efforts across recruitment, retention, professional development, promotion and other innovative practices that break down barriers to entry for minorities in the legal profession.

The MCCA determines the finalists and winners for the Sager Award based on its extensive review of the 2022 MCCA Law Firm Diversity Survey submissions. The Survey launched in 2004, is the longest standing diversity survey in the legal industry, that gathers insights about law firm demographics, leadership composition and the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse lawyers. The MCCA utilizes an objective data driven Diversity Scorecard to assess performance and impact.

“We are proud to have been named a finalist for this year’s Thomas L. Sager Award,” said Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer and Principal Kimya S.P. Johnson. “At Jackson Lewis, we believe that our diversity strengthens the fabric of our firm, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that present and future generations of lawyers experience the benefits, access, and embrace of a diverse and inclusive industry. Congratulations to all of the firms recognized for their commitment to this very important mindset.”

In addition to the firm being selected as a Sager Award finalist, Jackson Lewis recently achieved Mansfield 5.0 Plus Certification Status and was selected as a winner of the American Association for Access, Equity and Diversity President’s Award.
