Victoria Woodin Chavey and Beverly W. Garofalo Selected for Professional Excellence Awards

HARTFORD, CT (April 23, 2020) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Principals Victoria Woodin Chavey and Beverly W. Garofalo have been named recipients of the Connecticut Law Tribune’s 2020 Professional Excellence Awards. Ms. Chavey was selected as a “Best Mentor” winner and Ms. Garofalo was honored with the “Lifetime Achievement” award. The publication honored Connecticut attorneys and judges who have made a remarkable difference in the legal profession in the state. 

“Tory and Bev are accomplished attorneys who are passionate about serving their clients,” said Hartford Office Managing Principal Tanya A. Bovée. “Both have distinguished legal careers and are known for mentoring attorneys within the firm and in our community. We congratulate Tory and Bev on this well-deserved recognition.”

Ms. Chavey was selected as a “Best Mentors” honoree based on earned praise, respect and devotion from younger colleagues. She represents clients across the country on class action and single-plaintiff claims in a wide range of employment-related cases, both in court and in arbitration. She has argued numerous appeals, and also handles sensitive investigations and trainings. Ms. Chavey earned her J.D. from Boston University and her A.B. from Dartmouth College.  

Ms. Garofalo was honored with the “Lifetime Achievement” award for making a noteworthy mark on the legal industry. She has substantial experience representing employers in court and before administrative agencies. Ms. Garofalo regularly counsels employers on a wide range of employment issues, including sexual harassment; discrimination; accommodating disabled employees; family and medical leave laws; wage and hour laws; hiring, disciplining and terminating employees; downsizing and reductions-in-force; independent contractor, employment, non-competition and confidentiality agreements; mergers and acquisitions; and outsourcing. Ms. Garofalo earned her J.D. from the University of Connecticut and her B.A. from Colorado College.
