Joelle A. Mervin is an associate in the Los Angeles, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.

Joelle’s wage and hour experience includes, independent contractor analysis, evaluation of employee exemptions, commission and bonus plans, and compliance with California and federal law.  Additionally, Joelle conducts detailed and specialized training to assist managers with identifying and preventing violations of California and federal law.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Joelle was an attorney at the National Labor Relations Board where she investigated and litigated allegations of unfair labor practices in various industries including healthcare, entertainment, and manufacturing.

Joelle began her practice in education law working for a large school district. She then moved into private practice where she provided advice and counsel to school district clients regarding general education law matters, such as employee discipline, terminations, and various student issues. Joelle worked closely with a local community college’s Title IX coordinator on the initial stages of interviewing and investigating Title IX claims and updating investigation reports and procedures.
