Biography

Karen S. Eneas is Of Counsel in the Los Angeles, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She concentrates her practice on employment litigation, including discrimination and harassment claims, wrongful termination and wage and hour claims (individual plaintiffs and class actions).

Ms. Eneas represents public and private sector employers in a variety of industries including health care, hospitality, automotive, manufacturing, housing, gaming, insurance and not-for-profit organizations. She represents clients through all phases of the litigation process including discovery, deposition, mediation, arbitration, and jury and court trials, as well as on appeal. She also has extensive experience working with experts in the areas of human resources, medicine and forensics.

In addition, Ms. Eneas counsels employers on a variety of issues, including general employment policies and procedures, the drafting of employment and separation agreements, employee handbooks and employee terminations.

In 2008, Ms. Eneas was awarded the Gary Walker Memorial Scholarship from the International Association of Defense Counsel and completed the IADC Trial Academy at Stanford Law School.

Recent Experience

  • Successfully represented clients at trial and arbitration, including a first chair jury trial in which the court granted defense's motion for non-suit.
  • Successfully represented employers in administrative proceedings including wage and hour claims involving misclassification and unpaid overtime.
  • Successfully represented client on appeal before the Second District Court of Appeal in California, which affirmed the trial court's ruling on the issue of forum non conveniens.
  • Won summary judgment on behalf of a union representing school employees in an unpaid overtime and breach of privacy case.
  • Won summary judgment on behalf of a casino in a race discrimination, disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination in violation of public policy case.
