Biography

Kasia M. Preneta is an associate in the Hartford, Connecticut, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Kasia was a civil litigation attorney for a large federal law enforcement agency, where she represented and advised the agency on various employment law matters. Kasia represented the agency in administrative hearings before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. Kasia also worked with U.S. Attorney’s Offices around the country in representing the agency in Federal Tort Claims Act and Bivens actions filed in federal district and appellate courts. Additionally, Kasia advised the agency’s most senior management and human resources professionals on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Whistleblower Protection Act.

Kasia’s passion for employment litigation and counseling started before she joined the federal government, when she worked as an assistant general counsel for a District of Columbia government agency. In that role, Kasia managed a portion of the agency’s employment matters. She acted as an impartial hearing officer in administrative reviews of proposed disciplinary actions. She also represented the agency before the D.C. Office of Employee Appeals and D.C. Office of Human Rights. Before that, Kasia spent time working as a special assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, where she prosecuted misdemeanors and became comfortable in a courtroom. Kasia began her legal career with a clerkship in the Staff Attorneys’ Office of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
