Yuki  Cruse

Biography

Yuki Cruse is an Associate in the San Francisco, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling. She has a passion for delivering quality client service and enjoys working collaboratively with her clients and devising creative problem-solving methods to achieve positive results.

Ms. Cruse advises employers in numerous aspects of employment law, including discipline and termination, discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, recruitment and hiring, due process, compliance, preventive practice, and wage-and-hour issues. She also conducts audits of policies and programs, revises employee handbooks, conducts workplace investigations, and performs education and training seminars. 

Ms. Cruse's employment litigation experience includes drafting and responding to pleadings and discovery, meeting and conferring with opposing counsel, defending depositions, settlement negotiations, drafting dispositive motions, mediation, and trial preparation. She has successfully obtained several workplace violence restraining orders. She also represents employers before various administrative agencies including the DFEH, EEOC, DLSE, and PERB.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ms. Cruse developed significant experience advising public sector clients at a California regional law firm. She advised municipalities and special districts on union contract interpretation and administration, served as chief negotiator for a small northern California municipal employer during successor labor negotiations, and represented management in discipline arbitration.

Prior to that, Ms. Cruse worked as an employee relations representative for the City and County of San Francisco where she advised large municipal departments and labor organizations regarding various labor relations issues, analyzed and investigated labor grievances, and drafted responsive memoranda on behalf of the City. Ms. Cruse draws from her first-hand client perspective to deliver insightful employment and traditional labor services to both public and private employers.

While in law school, Ms. Cruse served as a judicial extern for The Honorable Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye of the California Supreme Court and The Honorable Magistrate Judge Kandis A. Westmore of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She received academic honors during all three years of law school and was a member of the McAuliffe Honor Society. Additionally, Ms. Cruse served as a staff member of the law review, case counsel for the Moot Court Program, an executive board member of the Black Law Students Association, and was the recipient of the CALI Award for Excellence in Asian Legal Systems.
