Jackson Lewis Joins Five European Law Firms to Form Global Employment and Labor Law Alliance

WHITE PLAINS, NY (January 25, 2011) –Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the fastest-growing workplace law firms in the United States, has joined five leading European employment and labor law boutiques to form L&E Global, an international alliance providing counsel to global employers.

“Many of our clients, whether they are emerging companies or large multinational corporations, operate in a global arena and face increasingly complex issues.  Even with the advent of the European Union and other economic and political partnerships, most laws and regulations governing the workplace are still determined by the individual countries.  We are very pleased to collaborate with these highly-regarded firms and our clients will benefit from attentive, efficient, and cost-effective legal counsel wherever their growth strategies take them.  We are very excited to embark upon this new initiative,” said Patrick L. Vaccaro, Firm-wide Managing Partner.

In addition to Jackson Lewis (www.jacksonlewis.com), the founding firms include:
• Bufete Suárez de Vivero, S.L, Spain (www.bufetesuarez.com)
• Flichy Grangé Avocats, France (www.flichy-associes.com)
• LABLAW — Studio Legale Failla Rotondi & Partners, Italy (www.lablaw.com)
• Pusch Wahlig Legal, Germany (www.pwlegal.net)
• Van Olmen „Q Wynant , Brussels (www.vow.be)

Each member firm concentrates its practice on employment law, employee benefits, labor relations, workplace privacy and immigration.  They are all highly regarded in their respective countries and are recognized leaders in their field.

L&E Global will function as a virtual international law firm, with a practice solely focused on advising employers on workplace challenges and issues.  “When a company faces a labor or employment problem touching on issues in multiple jurisdictions, they need experienced lawyers to guide them.  Our member firms have handled every conceivable employment issue in a wide range of workplace environments,” said Stephan Swinkels, Executive Director of L&E Global.

The founding members are already collaborating on many international projects, including counseling corporate clients on multi-country organizational restructurings and providing strategic legal advice regarding the potential response to a global corporate labor campaign launched by trade unions.

“Our prior collaboration demonstrates our seamless service to clients on cross-border workplace matters. L&E Global will create a solid framework for providing international workplace law advice, as if we were a single firm with overseas offices,” said Michael J. Lotito, the  Jackson Lewis Partner who coordinates the firm’s International Practice Group.

William J. Manning, co-chair of the firm’s Global Immigration Practice Group, added, “In a globalized economy, employers often face the problem of quickly relocating their key employees.  With its network of immigration lawyers, L&E Global will enable employers to develop an integrated global mobility plan and to deploy their executives and managers with the greatest possible flexibility.”

L&E Global’s member firms offer deep experience in a very broad array of sectors and markets, including financial and insurance services, high tech, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and information services, luxury goods, retail and energy. Together, they operate in every major U.S. city and in key European business centers; in other jurisdictions, the alliance will draw on strong relationships with leading local practices to provide seamless global coverage and seek to expand upon the number of participating firms all over the world.
