Jackson Lewis Named Most Active Defense Counsel for COVID-19-Related Litigation

NEW YORK, NY (March 2, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce the firm has been named the most active private defense counsel in 2021 for handling COVID-19-related cases, by Lex Machina's Law Firms Report (read more here). Jackson Lewis topped the list representing defendants in 174 cases in 51 different federal court districts.

“Our ongoing focus on client service and commitment to collaboration are instrumental to our success, and this recognition reinforces our strategy,” said Stephanie L. Adler-Paindiris and Stephanie E. Lewis, co-leaders of the firm’s Litigation group. “We would like to thank our attorneys, especially our COVID-19 and Vaccine Mandate Litigation teams, for their extremely hard work over the last year. We are very proud that clients continue to come to us for their litigation needs.”

Lex Machina's Law Firms Report ranks firms across Lex Machina's practice areas in federal district court and focuses on the three-year period from 2019 to 2021. The report ranks law firms in a variety of practice areas and categories such as employment, ERISA, cases caused by COVID-19 and most active law firms overall. In 2021, Jackson Lewis took on a varied set of COVID-19-related disputes involving everything from accommodation and leave requests, to layoffs caused by shutdowns, to vaccine challenges, across a variety of industries including higher education, manufacturing, fitness and healthcare.

“Many states, municipalities and companies made decisions about the best way to protect employees from COVID-19, including the implementation of vaccine mandates,” said Principal Patricia Anderson Pryor, who serves as leader of Jackson Lewis’ Vaccine Litigation Task Force in addition to her role as office litigation manager in the firm’s Cincinnati office. “This brought on a wave of accommodation requests for companies to manage, along with a slew of new state laws to navigate and other legal challenges. Our Vaccine Litigation Taskforce, comprised of attorneys with subject matter knowledge and vaccine litigation experience, have helped clients in a variety of industries respond to the challenges levied, including disability and religious accommodation claims, as well as privacy, EUA, state law and constitutional challenges.”
