Jackson Lewis Principals Justin R. Barnes and Jeffrey W. Brecher Receive Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing

NEW YORK, NY (March 20, 2024) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Principals Justin R. Barnes and Jeffrey W. Brecher have been selected by the Burton Awards as recipients of the “2024 Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Awards” for their article, “2022 Wage and Hour Developments: A Year in Review.” Their recognized article discusses significant wage and hour developments at both the federal and state levels, as well as identifies state minimum wage rates. David T. Wiley, a recently retired knowledge management attorney for Jackson Lewis, also contributed to the piece. This year’s winners will be honored on May 20, 2024, at the Library of Congress.

“On behalf of Jackson Lewis, I want to congratulate Justin, Jeffrey and David for earning this prestigious legal writing award,” said Firm Chair Kevin Lauri. “Their article demonstrates their vast knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws, in addition to their exemplary writing skills. In exploring the intricate nuances of wage and hour laws, their analysis offers useful guidance to ensure businesses keep pace in this complex legal landscape.”

The Burton Awards is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit program run in association with the Library of Congress, presented by lead sponsor Law360, and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association. Winners are chosen from articles submitted from the nation's 1,000 largest law firms. 20 articles are selected by judges and law school professors, including professors from Harvard Law School, Georgetown Law Center, and UC Berkeley Law School. The Burton Awards were established to honor the finest accomplishments in law, including writing, reform, public service and interest, regulatory innovation and lifetime achievements in the profession.
