Former EEOC Trial Attorney Richard Mrizek Joins Jackson Lewis' Chicago Office

CHICAGO, IL (February 16, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Richard Mrizek has joined the firm’s Chicago office as of counsel. Richard arrives from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) where he was a trial attorney for more than 20 years.

“Richard is an accomplished and highly-seasoned trial attorney,” said Litigation group Co-Leaders Stephanie L. Adler-Paindiris and Stephanie E. Lewis. “His years of experience at the EEOC make him a key strategic addition to the practice and will bolster our capabilities. We are thrilled Richard has decided to join the firm.”

As a trial attorney at the EEOC, Richard has litigated discrimination cases concerning race, national origin, sex, religion, disability, and retaliation. He presents regularly on issues of employment discrimination law. Richard has worked on significant class and complex litigation, and his representative matters include litigating disparate impact claims involving background checks, racial harassment and discrimination claims, ADA accommodation claims, and a variety of other discrimination and retaliation claims. Richard plans to utilize his deep subject matter expertise and litigation experience to bolster the firm’s EEOC and agency litigation capabilities, as well as to provide advice and counsel on complex matters.

Prior to joining the EEOC, Richard worked in the Labor and Employment group of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. He was an ABA Government Labor Employment Fellow from 2004-2006. In 2007 Richard received the Chair’s Excellence in Leadership Award.

“As we continue to strengthen our litigation capabilities in Chicago, Richard’s experience will be a tremendous asset to our clients,” said Office Managing Principal Nadine C. Abrahams. “His track record of trial victories is quite impressive and we are excited to welcome him to the team.”

Richard received his B.A. from Northwestern University and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Within the past year, the firm welcomed the Commission’s former legal counsel Andrew F. Maunz as of counsel in its Pittsburgh office, increasing the depth and breadth of its EEOC experience.
