Guillermo A. Escobedo Appointed Vice President of San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 26, 2018) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, congratulates Principal Guillermo A. Escobedo, who was appointed Vice President of the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association (SDLRLA). During his one-year term, Mr. Escobedo plans to lead the objectives of SDLRLA, which includes advancing the cause of equality and empowerment for Latino attorneys and the Latino community in San Diego County. 

“For many years I have enjoyed working with SDLRLA, and now it is a great honor to serve as Vice President,” said Mr. Escobedo. “I look forward to another year of furthering our efforts of promoting equality, empowerment, advocacy and justice for the Latino community in San Diego County.”

Mr. Escobedo has proudly served on the board of SDLRLA since 2016 and has been an active member of the organization for more than 10 years. He will be responsible for managing the SDLRLA mentoring program with schools in the San Diego area, working with other bar associations to advocate for greater diversity in the legal profession and helping SDLRA members through various continuing legal education programs and other clinics. 

The mission of SDLRLA is to advance the cause of equality, empowerment and justice for Latino attorneys and the Latino community in San Diego County through service and advocacy. The organization’s attorneys dedicate themselves to promoting diversity on both the bench and bar. In addition, SDLRLA supports law students with mentorship programs and scholarships.

Mr. Escobedo’s practice focuses on training, counseling, and defending companies in workplace-related legal matters. His advice-and-counsel practices include harassment prevention and anti-bullying training, effective management tools, reviewing and revising employee handbooks and other company policies, and conducting workplace investigations.

As a litigator, Mr. Escobedo defends claims of wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, defamation, breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets and related issues. 

Mr. Escobedo regularly volunteers at local elementary schools to discuss the importance of higher education and the legal system and is a pro bono attorney for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego.
