Valerie L. Hooker
Valerie L. Hooker is a principal in the Miami, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.
Valerie advises and represents employers in a broad range of employment law matters, including those involving discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, wrongful termination, whistleblower and other retaliation claims, violation of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, and unfair business practices. She also advises managers and supervisors on preventive litigation practices, focusing on how to comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, avoid workplace disputes and resolve employee relations problems.
Valerie also works extensively with clients in drafting restrictive covenant agreements and developing programs to best protect clients’ confidential business information. She has prosecuted and defended actions involving breach of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, misappropriation, tortious interference, unfair competition, and related business claims.
While attending law school, Valerie was elected as the interschool competition editor of the Brendan Moore Trial Advocacy Center and was a member of the Fordham Environmental Law Review.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Valerie practiced in the labor and employment group of a national law firm in New York City, New York, representing employers exclusively.
