Nicholas A. Simpson
Nicholas A. Simpson is a principal in the Chicago, Illinois, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on partnering with employers to solve complex workplace issues before they become business disruptions.
Nicholas represents employers in employment litigation, workplace investigations, and day-to-day labor and employment counseling matters. He works with businesses, executives, and human resources professionals to navigate sensitive workplace challenges with practical, business-focused legal guidance.
His litigation practice includes defending employers in state and federal court, arbitration, and administrative proceedings involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, leave and accommodation issues, and other workplace-related claims. He also has experience representing higher education institutions in matters involving Section 1981, Section 1983, defamation, false light, battery, and Ethics Act claims. Nicholas approaches litigation strategically and efficiently, with a focus on minimizing operational disruption and positioning clients for successful outcomes.
In addition to litigation, Nicholas serves as a trusted advisor to employers on preventative employment strategies and difficult personnel matters. He regularly counsels clients on workplace policies, employee discipline, internal complaints, reductions in force, compliance initiatives, and high-risk employment decisions. While attending law school, Nicholas participated in the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Mock Trial Team. In 2016, he competed in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition where his team placed first overall in both the National and Regional competition. He also worked as a legal extern for both the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board and for the Honorable Amy St. Eve, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
