Biography

Nicholas A. Simpson is an Associate in the Chicago, Illinois, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counsel. 

Mr. Simpson defends employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. He has experience representing a wide range of clients, from major corporations, higher education institutions, national hotel chains, franchise restaurants, car dealerships, to small businesses, in employment litigation matters, including claims of race, age, national origin, sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliatory discharge. Mr. Simpson also has experience representing higher education institutions in matters involving Section 1981, Section 1983, defamation, false light, battery, and Ethics Act claims.

Mr. Simpson is a member of the Chicago Office’s Higher Education Group. The group focuses on solving workplace law and other civil rights challenges facing higher education institutions. It represents both public and private universities in a range of matters including tenure cases, Title IX claims, strategic investigations, student claims, constitutional and state statutory issues and traditional labor matters. It also reviews and revises higher education policies and procedures, and conducts internal investigations. 

While attending law school, Mr. Simpson participated in the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Mock Trial Team. In 2016, Mr. Simpson competed in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition where his team placed first overall in both the National and Regional competition. Mr. Simpson also worked as a legal extern for both the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board and for the Honorable Amy St. Eve, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Simpson created Young Forever, a volunteer organization that partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Carbondale, Illinois, to provide mentoring and support to local youth.
