Four Jackson Lewis Attorneys Named Among the Top Latino Lawyers of 2018

WHITE PLAINS, NY (November 30, 2018) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Principal Gregory T. Alvarez, Principal Jason C. Gavejian, Of Counsel Angela Quiles Nevarez and Principal Pedro Jaime Torres-Díaz have been named to the “Top Latino Lawyers 2018” list compiled by Latino Leaders magazine. The annual list honors successful and inspirational lawyers from across the country who are leaders in their workplace and for their dedication to the Latino community.

Gregory T. Alvarez is a Principal in the Morristown, New Jersey office of Jackson Lewis and is a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. He focuses his practice on employment litigation, including class and collective action cases, as well as employment law counseling. He is a member of the firm’s Hispanic Attorney Resource Group and former Board Liaison to the firm’s Diversity Committee. Mr. Alvarez’s practice includes counseling and providing training to employers on many employment law issues, and defends employers in federal and state court litigation and administrative charges, including many wage and hour class and collective actions and other multi-plaintiff litigations. Mr. Alvarez is a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey, the Hispanic National Bar, the New Jersey Hispanic Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section.

Jason C. Gavejian is a Principal in the Morristown, New Jersey office of Jackson Lewis where his practice focuses on privacy, data security, and labor and employment law. Mr. Gavejian is Co-Chair of Jackson Lewis’ Hispanic Attorney Resource Group (HARG), a group of attorneys who specialize in providing assistance in workplace law matters to businesses with a large Hispanic workforce. Mr. Gavejian is a Certified Information Privacy Professional. He focuses on the matrix of laws governing privacy, security and management of data. Mr. Gavejian also represents management exclusively in all aspects of employment litigation, including restrictive covenants, class actions, harassment, retaliation, discrimination, and wage and hour claims. Mr. Gavejian has been rated by Super Lawyers since 2009 and received the “HNBA Top Lawyers Under 40” award. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Angela Quiles Nevarez is Of Counsel in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office of Jackson Lewis where her practice focuses on employment litigation in state and federal courts. She defends employers in actions involving claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination and retaliation. In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Quiles Nevarez regularly advises and counsels clients on strategies for handling employee discipline, terminations, workplace investigations, requests for accommodation, and leaves of absence. She conducts training seminars in both English and Spanish on equal employment opportunities, anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, diversity and inclusion, and unconscious bias. Ms. Quiles Nevarez is Co-Chair of Jackson Lewis’ HARG.  She is a member of the American Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the National Employment Law Council.

Pedro Jaime Torres-Díaz is a Principal in the San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Miami, Florida offices of Jackson Lewis. His practice concentrates on employment discrimination, wage and hour counseling, and litigation exclusively on behalf of employers, both in Florida and Puerto Rico. Mr. Torres-Díaz has extensive trial experience before both federal and local courts and administrative forums in Puerto Rico and Florida. He has successfully defended employers in all types of administrative hearings before local and federal agencies. Mr. Torres-Díaz is a frequent speaker on many subjects in the labor and employment law field, in seminars for clients and for organizations in Florida and elsewhere. Mr. Torres-Díaz has also written articles on legal developments in Puerto Rico. He is a member and Past President of the Hispanic National Bar Association, a member of the American Bar Association, a Commissioner of the ABA’s Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession, the Bar Association of Puerto Rico, The Florida Bar, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida.

Jackson Lewis has a standing Diversity and Inclusion Committee divided into attorney resource groups, both to ensure all vital areas are addressed and to provide leadership opportunities for female and minority attorneys.
