Jonathan O. Harris is a principal in the Nashville, Tenessee, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Jon specializes in class and collective actions. He spends a significant amount of his practice defending companies in data privacy cases. He also represents employers in wage and hour collective actions. On data privacy matters, he has utilized his extensive class experience to deploy unique strategies to bring those matters to a favorable conclusion. Clients have complimented Jon for being “creative” and “clever” in his approach to data privacy class actions.

Jon is a trusted counselor to employers in all aspects of their labor and employment law issues. Jon enjoys the opportunity to partner with clients as situations arise and develop a plan of action that best suits the employer’s needs of the moment. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Jon tailors a solution to his client’s business needs and risk tolerance.

In his two decades of practice, Jon has obtained numerous successes in both federal and state court. More than 100 cases can be found on Westlaw or Lexis, where he led a case to a successful conclusion for his clients. Jon is not afraid to represent employers in cases involving challenging facts, and he looks forward to the opportunity to take a case to trial. Jon is also a frequent speaker on topics relating to all types of employment and data privacy issues.

After graduating from the Washington University School of Law, from 2000 to 2001, Jon served as a law clerk for the Honorable E. Richard Weber, a United States District Court Judge in the Eastern District of Missouri. Jon is a Fellow and Trustee of the Nashville Bar Foundation. He has been recognized by the publications The Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, and his peers have rated him as “AV Preeminent” in Martindale-Hubbell.

Jon loves taking his family on adventures overseas, exploring new wines, and listening to vinyl.  He is also honored to lead Jackson Lewis’ Disability/Neurodiversity resource group that supports the professional and business development of JL attorneys with physical or mental disabilities of any kind.
