Michael Abitabilo is the Managing Principal of the White Plains office and a member of the Firm’s Advisory Committee. Michael is a strategic partner and trusted advisor to in house attorneys, human resources professionals, and other executives. Grounded in an outcome driven philosophy, Michael collaborates with clients to define strategic objectives and deliver practical, effective solutions. His blend of creativity, sound judgment, and nuanced understanding of his clients’ needs distinguishes his approach to even the most complex matters.

A substantial portion of Michael’s practice focuses on advising employers of all sizes on terminations and layoffs, employment agreements, employee discipline, internal investigations, disability and leave management, workplace policies, wage and hour compliance, and other day to day challenges faced by employers. He is also an experienced and sought after trainer, capable of providing engaging and dynamic instruction to attorneys, executives, HR professionals, managers, supervisors, and employees on a wide range of labor and employment topics.

In addition to providing day-to-day advice and counsel, Michael represents management in employment litigation matters before state and federal courts, as well as agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Division of Human Rights, National Labor Relations Board, Department of Labor, and the New York State Public Employment Relations Board. Michael also brings significant experience in traditional and public sector labor law. His work includes representing private sector employers in all aspects of the collective bargaining relationship and representing public sector employers in matters arising under New York’s Taylor Law, including unlawful strike proceedings and interest arbitration.

While in law school, Michael was a member of the Moot Court Association and served as editor in chief of the Hofstra Labor & Employment Law Journal. He was honored with the Jonathan Falk Memorial Scholarship, awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, a commitment to peers, and a strong interest in labor and employment law.
