Poonam Sethi

Poonam Sethi is an associate in the White Plains, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. 

Coming from an immigrant family, Poonam observed firsthand the need for effective guidance to run a business. Her father ran several small businesses, including grocery stores, delis and restaurants. Poonam observed firsthand the effects a lawsuit can have on the company and on the individual. She brings that background and understanding to be a strong advocate for employers. 

Poonam’s practice includes defending management in employment litigation before federal and state courts, as well as agencies such as the EEOC, the New York State Division of Human Rights, and other federal, state, and local bodies. She has extensive experience handling single plaintiff claims involving breach of contract, wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment. A significant portion of her work focuses on advising employers of all sizes on the full spectrum of workplace issues, including restrictive covenants, policy development, wage and hour compliance, employee discipline, internal complaints and investigations, and disability and leave management. She provides practical, risk focused guidance that helps employers navigate challenges, maintain compliance, and achieve their business objectives. Poonam’s goal is to serve as a trusted partner to employers—helping them minimize exposure, strengthen workplace practices, and confidently manage the evolving landscape of labor and employment law. 

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Poonam worked at a large litigation firm in New York City, where she independently handled high value matters involving labor law and general premise liability cases. While attending law school, Poonam was a member of the Cardozo Public Law, Policy and Ethics Journal.
