Bernard G. Dennis, III is a principal in the Washington, D.C. Region office of Jackson Lewis P.C. and co-leads the Professional Sports subgroup for the Entertainment, Media & Professional Sports Industry Group.

He assists clients in the investigation and defense of wage and hour, discrimination, and retaliation claims before administrative agencies and state and federal courts, including class and collective actions.

His practice includes advising and representing higher education institutions, with experience in education and collegiate athletics matters and published analysis on NCAA governance, NIL developments and joint-employer standards affective colleges and universities. Bernard has advised clients regarding NIL agreements and represented higher education clients in Title IX litigation.

Recently, Bernard advised federal lawmakers on the benefits and consequences of student athletes as employees and proposed nationwide legislation.

Before entering private practice, Bernard clerked for the Honorable Cheryl A. McCally, Associate Judge for the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. In law school, he worked for the Villanova University School of Law Civil Justice Clinic, represented Villanova at the National Baseball Arbitration Competition, and was recognized for drafting the 2011 Best International Law Memorial.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Bernard played professional baseball in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system and collegiately at The Catholic University of America.
