Biography

Janean B. Dunn is an Associate in the Raleigh, North Carolina, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ms. Dunn was a general attorney for the second-largest federal government agency, where she represented and advised the agency on various labor and employment law matters. Ms. Dunn represented the agency in grievance arbitrations, mediations and administrative hearings before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. Additionally, Ms. Dunn advised management and human resources professionals on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act and the agency’s collective bargaining agreement with the labor union, American Federation of Government Employees. Ms. Dunn also provided advice and counsel on privileging matters involving physicians and mandatory reporting requirements for state licensing boards and the National Practitioners Data Bank.

While attending law school, Ms. Dunn was a contributing editor for the Elon Law Journal of Leadership and the Law and a Leadership Fellow in Elon Law’s leadership program. Additionally, Ms. Dunn externed at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, to include serving as a judicial clerk to Supervisory Administrative Judge Regina N. Stephens. Ms. Dunn also completed various assignments in the EEOC’s investigation unit and the alternative dispute resolution unit. 

Ms. Dunn graduated cum laude with a double major in Sociology and Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
