Biography

JaVon A. Payton is an associate in the Orange County, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. JaVon primarily represents employers on traditional labor law matters.

JaVon regularly defends employers against unfair labor practice charges.  She has experience in drafting position statements and strategically communicating with the union and NLRB agents to settle the charge or get it dismissed.  JaVon has also assisted in negotiating contracts for national retailers and defended employers in labor arbitrations. Additionally, JaVon has experience in representing employers against union petitions, which include developing campaign strategies, appearing at hearings in front of the NLRB, and representing management at elections. 

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, JaVon worked as a general litigation associate at a firm in Orange County. She practiced in matters concerning fair housing and employment and family law. In 2017, JaVon was selected to serve on the Board of Advisors for the Center of First Amendment Studies program at California State University, Long Beach, in which she provides her vast proficiency regarding first amendment matters. During her undergraduate studies, JaVon participated in various moot court, as well as speech and debate competitions.
