Hawaii Tightens Ban-the-Box Law, Further Limiting Use of Past Criminal History in Work Decisions

Nicole Hudspeth is an Associate in the Honolulu, Hawaii, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including pre-litigation claims and litigation, as well as preventive advice and counseling.
Ms. Hudspeth is a retired United States Marine and Judge Advocate. During her time in the service she practiced federal employment law, criminal law and installation law. In addition to representing the Department of the Navy in Equal Employment Opportunity and Merit System Protection Board litigation, she also served as Senior Trial Counsel, the Officer in Charge of Legal Team Delta, as well as the Deputy Circuit Judge for the Navy-Marine Corps Eastern Judicial Circuit. Ms. Hudspeth deployed to Baghdad in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where she led a multi-service team of military lawyers responsible for prosecuting enemy detainees in the Central Criminal Court of Iraq located in the “Red Zone” for violations of Iraqi law in front of an Iraqi judiciary.
Ms. Hudspeth is active in a wide variety of community activities, with a focus generally on education and children.
While attending law school, Ms. Hudspeth was a member of the Women’s Law Caucus and Chair of the Moot Court.
