Samantha N. Tomey is of counsel in the Long Island, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.

Samantha advises employers regarding daily issues and personnel matters, including compliance with state and federal employment regulations, reductions-in-force, allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment, and litigation avoidance. In that capacity, Samantha has drafted and reviewed a variety of human resource-related documents, including disciplinary notices, performance reviews, separation agreements, incident reports, termination letters and employee handbooks. Samantha also provides both group and individual employee training sessions in order to reinforce and explain employer policies and ensure that protocols are communicated and understood.

In addition, Samantha has broad experience as a management-side defense litigator, representing employers regarding allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as claims based on whistleblower laws, wrongful discharge, defamation, and breach of employment contracts. She has represented management in labor and employment litigation before federal, state and local courts, administrative agencies, mediators and arbitrators.

Samantha has also conducted independent investigations regarding allegations of workplace harassment and other personnel issues in order to help clients make informed decisions, optimize employee relations, and mitigate risk.
