Shiva Anari

Shiva Anari is an associate in the Los Angeles, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including pre-litigation claims and litigation, as well as preventive advice and counseling.

Shiva regularly represents management in a broad range of employment disputes, including single-plaintiff litigation, wage and hour class actions, and representative actions brough under the California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). She defends employers against claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour issues in both states and federal court, as well as before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, California Civil Rights Department, and the California Department of Industrial Relations. 

Shiva is experienced with all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation through resolution, including case assessment, fact investigation, written discovery, depositions, law and motion, dispositive motions, oral argument, mediation, settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and strategic case management. She routinely partners with employers to develop practical, business-oriented litigation strategies, efficiently manage complex employment disputes, and achieve favorable resolutions. 

Shiva also advises employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the California Family Rights Act, the Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, and California wage and hour laws. She counsels employers on workplace investigations, employee discipline, accommodations, leave of absence, reduction in force, personnel policies and handbooks, wage and hour compliance, and other proactive measures designed to minimize litigation risk and promote legal compliance.

Prior to practicing at Jackson Lewis, Shiva was a litigation attorney at a mid-size law firm where she defended complex commercial matters involving breach of contract, breach of warranty, negligence, and fraud. She also routinely advised employers on matters relating to hiring, termination, employee benefits, and handbook review.
